The
growth of twitter is rapid, and it breaks all the predictions. From a small
status update micro blog, twitter has now grown up to be an integral tool to politicians,
celebrities and bloggers etc, to update their ideas, views and current status.
Recently,
it looks as if I am spending more time to acquaint with various function of twitter;
I will explain you how to bring these twitter widgets in your blog side bar.

on twitter
Follow me
in on twitter, is nothing but a link to your twitter profile. For example, when
you click on ‘follow me” image in my side bar, you will reach to www.twitter.com/anaschulyodan
The most
attractive element of this widget is the image which is linked to the profile;
there are hundreds of new and adorable twitter banners available on the net.
Some of them are here for you. Select your picture, just right click, go to
properties, and copy the file location:
And here
is the way to add this picture and link in your blog:
For
wordpress:
Assuming
that you already logged in to your Admin control panel; go to
Appearance à Widgets,
And add
Text widget, Edit the Text widget, then type in the below code in the box, and
click ‘Done’, and then save the settings.
Don’t
forget to change “YourTwitterAccount” to your
twitter account name. You can also alter the image link with one of the above
pictures that you have already copied the link location, and change “yourimage.jpg” to you the URL path of the
image that you selected to be displayed in your side bar.
For
Blogger:
Go to
your blogger account dashboard, go to Layout à Page Elements. And on
your template side bar, click Add a Gadget, then
choose HTML/JavaScript.
Don’t
give any text on the Title, type in the below code in the contents field.
Don’t
forget to change “YourTwitterAccount” to your
twitter account name. You can also alter the image link with one of the above
pictures that you have already copied the link location, and change “yourimage.jpg” to you the URL path of the
image that you selected to be displayed in your side bar.
Adding
Twitter updates in Your Blog
It is one
of the most popular option, bloggers are currently using. You can bring your
twitter updates in the side bar. Here the way to bring the same to your blog:
For
Wordpress:
First of
all, download a Twitter widget from Wordpress widgets section. Here is the URL:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/twitter-widget/
Unzip it,
and you will get a file called, “twitter-widget.php”
Upload
the file to your wordpress theme exactly to the below mentioned location:
‘/wp-content/plugins/widgets/‘
In your
wordpress admin panel, go to ‘Plug-in àInstalled’ and activate the twitter plug-in.
Go to AppearanceàWidgets and add
the twitter widget to the side bar, (drag and drop or click on the add button,
it changes depends on the theme)
Now, edit
the widget as below:
Account: ‘YourTwitterAccountName’ (don’t give full URL, just
your account name J)
Title: My
Tweets (or whatever you like)
Show: 5
(How many of your tweets should be visible in the box, you can change the
number as you wish)
Then
click ‘Done’, and save the changes.
For
Blogger:
Log into your
twitter account:
Open the
below link:
http://twitter.com/badges/blogger
Select number of updates to show in
your blog and title for it, you can see the preview of twitter updates on right
side of that page.
Just
click “grab the code” and add it to your blog using java script \HTML widget.
